Andreea Diaconu is one of those chameleon-like models who defies type-casting.In Chloé's fall campaign, she plays a gypset Thelma to **Sasha Pivovarova’**s Louise wearing a decadent mixed-fur coat; for Ralph Lauren Collection, she’s to the manor born in a dove-gray turtleneck and languid floor-length skirt.
He fatally stabbed PC Palmer to death before he was shot dead by armed police.’s March issue, Romanian beauty, Andreea Diaconu, is known for her playful Instagram account (@Andreea Diddy) and classic, beachy style."I remember crying and crying, and everything was too big on me. I was a beanpole." When a seamstress brought her to tears, she told her mother she wanted to go home.Through high school, Diaconu modeled part time, but she was teased when she'd return from Paris or London with different colored hair."We thought that was a lot of money, so we went to the school, and I won." Her next booking was headlining a Peter Pan–themed fashion show at the airport Radisson in her hometown of Bucharest. Agents continued to approach her parents, but Diaconu didn't give modeling another go until a couple of years later.
An agent booked her for a major show in New York, but the experience was a shock.
Here, Dianconu shares her hair, health, and skincare products that she can’t live without. Five-minute routine: Salt hairspray, moisturizer, and 10 jumping jacks. I also use beard products for my hair (they smell better).
Never leave the house without: Sunscreen and lip tint that I use as blush if I’m having an off day. Beauty essentials: Jason Sunscreen; any oil that can be applied for hair and face. In-tub must-read: Henry Miller, Jorge Luis Borges, Susan Sontag, Mircea Eliade, Romanian poetry or Russian plays. Beauty icons: Nico, Debbie Harry, and Carolyn Murphy.
[For mascara,] I like Diorshow and BADgal Lash from Benefit. Makeup artists, they’re a lot gentler now, and they use good products. It's like you're getting a treatment every day! But her hair is amazing, and she does it every week. If I'm in New York, I'll do SLT, Soul Cycle, model FIT or yoga.
I apply it with a fat brush and then with a clean brush I just comb it through, so it looks natural. How about hair maintenance—do you use any oils or masks? You're going to smell like alcohol for the day, but other than that it's fine! I did find one studio in the Rockaways, so I intend on [trying it out] if I ever go surfing back there. Or I'll just go to Equinox and do my own workout, if none of those has availability—because, as we all know, New York is crazy for working out!
This month, Diaconu, who appears on her first cover alongside eight of her dazzling young industry peers, is playing her most familiar role to date: fresh-faced model-of-the-moment.
